What is  Aeropress?

The Aeropress is an innovative and versatile coffee brewing method that is beloved by both home baristas and professionals. Designed by engineer Alan Adler in 2005, the Aeropress uses air pressure to press hot water through ground coffee. This results in a rich, full flavor with a smooth finish. Thanks to its compact size and user-friendly design, the Aeropress is a popular choice for both home and on-the-go.

Now that you know what the Aeropress is, let us continue with the step-by-step plan to brew delicious coffee with this unique device.

Step-by-step plan for making coffee with an Aeropress:

  1. Grind the coffee: Use high-quality coffee beans and grind them to a medium fine consistency. This ensures good extraction and a flavorful cup of coffee.
  2. Prepare: Place a paper filter in the filter cap of the Aeropress and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper taste. Screw the filter cap onto the Aeropress and place the Aeropress on your cup or carafe.
  3. Add coffee: Put the ground coffee in the Aeropress. For a standard Aeropress recipe you use approximately 14-17 grams coffee (one full Aeropress scoop).
  4. Add water: Pour hot water (approximately 93-96°C) over the ground coffee until the water level reaches the desired amount. Stir the coffee for approximately 10 seconds to ensure that all coffee comes into contact with the water evenly.
  5. Extract: Place the plunger in the Aeropress and push slowly downward. This should take approximately 20-30 seconds. The air pressure will press the water through the coffee, which results in a rich and flavorful extraction.
  6. Enjoy it: Remove the Aeropress from your cup or carafe and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee. You can drink the coffee pure or adjust to your taste with milk, sugar or other additions.

With these simple steps you can time and again enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with the Aeropress. Experiment with different coffee varieties and grind sizes to find your perfect cup!
